Imbued With The Rune Of Death by Bloody Valkyria Review

Welcome back folks! Today I’ve got a single for you from Bloody Valkyria.

Bloody Valkyria is a melodic black metal band from finland. Their album, In Our Home, Across The Fog, was released on April 4th, 2025 and today we are going over the single Imbued With The Rune of Death. The track is seven minutes, twenty-two seconds and is the second song on the album. Anyone who has read any of my other melodic black metal reviews probably knows how I feel about really long songs, so I will admit I was already nervous before even playing the song due to the length. Now, knowing that, let’s jump into it.

So right off the bat is a beautiful, melodic electric guitar with some soft strings in the background. It is very well done and almost angelic sounding. Then the drums and the rest of the band joins in and absolutely just punches you in the face.

At the midpoint in the track, the vocals slow down and there is a very cinematic breakdown in the music. It is quite refreshing and I enjoy the way it blends in with the hardcore sounds of the rest of the track. They do this three or four times throughout the track and it keeps me engaged throughout the duration of the track. The last forty-five seconds of the track really brings the cinematic feel to a climax and it is incredibly satisfying. I also think the vocalist’s sound fits the vibe of the song really well. That is a complaint I have regularly with a lot of metal bands so I appreciate that about this band quite a bit. Another regular complaint I have about metal music, especially the sub genres in black metal, is that I do not enjoy the theatrical sounds. I don’t like it when it is over the top in a broadway type of way. Something I appreciate about this track is that it was dramatic but in a Hollywood blockbuster-action film sort of way, not a cringey theater kind of way.

It takes a very special song to hold my attention easily for over seven minutes. Well done, Bloody Valkyria, well done.
