Review: Krystalicznie Brudny by Oskoma

Face it: I was gonna like Krystalicznie Brudny by Oskoma if it killed me. I mean, look at that cover. If that doesn’t scream Keepers of the Black Flame, then I don’t know what the fuck does. Fortunately for me, no violence upon my person was required, because from the first proper track onward—after a brief, horror-movie-style intro drenched in dread—Krystalicznie Brudny rips forward as pure, unfiltered, frost-scorched Polish Raw Black Metal.

This isn’t just raw for rawness’ sake. It’s the kind of sound that carries blood and purpose—the sort of recording where you can feel the cold sweat of the rehearsal room, the claustrophobic heat of candles burning low, and the intent to create something truer than production polish could ever allow. The guitars buzz like razors carving sigils into the air, the drums hammer out primitive war-beats that seem to come from beneath the soil itself, and the vocals sound like they’re being screamed through flaming barbed wire and broken teeth.

There’s something very old-world about this release. Not nostalgic, but defiant. The riffs have that Polish school of venomous melody—think early Furia, but stripped of their sheen and shoved face-first back into the mud. It’s the sort of sound where each chord change feels like a ritual movement, each moment of feedback like a blade being drawn. Beneath the violence, though, there’s a surprising sense of atmosphere. Oskoma may sound like they’re throwing nails at your head, but there’s structure here—dark, hypnotic patterns that worm their way into your skull until you’re nodding along to the chaos.

Krystalicznie Brudny is short, sharp, and grim as fuck, and that’s part of its strength. It storms in, rips your throat open, and vanishes back into the fog before you’ve had time to check if you’re still bleeding. The mix is filthy, the tone corrosive, and the spirit utterly uncompromising. This is not music designed to entertain—it’s an act of exorcism, a purging of modern weakness through the language of distortion and hate.

Oskoma don’t want you to admire them. They want you to feel them—and what you feel here is pure Black Metal honesty: raw, primitive, furious, and completely alive.

CHOICE CUT: Ogrzeje mnie blask

BLACK METAL ARCHIVES VERDICT: Krystalicznie Brudny is the sound of blood freezing in the veins. It’s jagged, hateful, and steeped in the spirit of the underground. Oskoma have taken the torch from their Polish forebears and used it to burn down the pretenders. No frills, no compromise—just fire, frost, and filth.
