Black Metal band Pestilential Shadows have announced their new album, Wretch, will be available September 5th via Northern Silence Productions.

“Formed over two decades ago and led by founding guitarist and vocalist Balam, Pestilential Shadows have consistently stood apart from their country’s extreme metal landscape. While many Australian acts lean toward chaos or overly clean execution, Pestilential Shadows have long embraced black metal classicism, weaving emotion, melancholy and grandeur into their work.
“Wretch” arrives only a year after 2024’s “Devil’s Hammer”, a rare moment of immediacy from a band known for leaving long gaps between releases. Substantially and simply titled, the album pushes further into darker and more abrasive territory, while remaining firmly rooted in the essence of black metal — meditations on death, decay and the beyond.
The album’s eight songs span 49 minutes, balancing violence and solemnity with remarkable pacing. Of particular note is “Where Sunlight Goes to Die”, featuring guest choral vocals by Dis Pater of Midnight Odyssey.”
