Hőr mit kall by Månegarm Review

Hőr mit kall by Månegarm is a slice of pure metal, weaving a magical tale of Norse mythology and folklore across its three and half minute runtime. I mean, I think it does, but as I don’t speak Swedish – the language that Månegarm sing in – I don’t actually know. Yet it doesn’t really matter, as this small barrier aside, Hőr mit kall thunders like an oncoming horde that you cannot get out the way of.

It chugs along on a rhythm and riff so meaty that it could choke a Vegan at 300 paces, as Jakob Hallegren (drums), Erik Grawsiö (bass and vocals), and Markus Andé (guitar), set up a seige camp inside your brain and starts pounding at the doors.

It is, however, Markus Andé that holds Månegarm’s secret weapon hwre as he has a hook that runs throughout Hőr mit kall that is so addictive you’ll find yourself humming it while going about your day, as I did while doing the washing up this morning, and when you throw Erik Grawsiö’s voice into the mix – a growl that is as deep and raw as the Mariana Trench – then Hőr mit kall by Månegarm becomes something a little special.

On the surface, it is a pure Heavy Metal song that you can bang your head too while throwing up the horns, but at the same time it’s as easy to catch as a dose from a Bangkok hooker, but with less scratching and awkward explanations to your doctor.

Hőr mit kall by Månegarm will invade your space, pillage your thoughts, and take control of your mind, and you will quite happily let it.
