It is a rare occasion that I do a video review, but the fact of the matter is that I have been sat on The Spectrum Of Human Gravity album for a couple of weeks now, and it’s still a few more until I can unleash my fanboy review unto the world so you all go buy it, meaning that any chance I get to talk about Hellfox and their music, well, shit, I’m gonna take.

Having already reported on and sung the praises of the first single off the album – the brilliant Seaweed Braids – next up on the old review block is Atlas, a song the band says is about how:
“We have no control over what happens around us, but letting go of that weight may be the most liberating act of all.”
Atlas is the prefect representation of that statement. It is a crushing weight upon your back, trying to crush you into the ground.
Driven on by the kinetic energy of drums that is Federica Fedi Piscopo and the pummeling bass of Priscilla Poe Foresti, the heart of Atlas is as heavy as the world that the Titan found himself burdened with, while over the top of this monster, Gloria Naflekt Kaps weaves her fantastic guitar.
I cannot overstate how much I love her style as she knows what the song needs and plays accordingly. There’s nothing worse than a guitar player that noodles because they can, making the track all about them to the detriment of everything else. Gloria Naflekt Kaps doesn’t do this. She follows the natural progression of the song and when it needs it, then she cuts loose. It is a fine balancing act to be able to play both rhythm and lead guitar seamlessly, but Gloria Naflekt Kaps walks the tightrope to perfection.
Which just leaves the dual vocals of Priscilla Poe Foresti and Greta Hammonia Antico, which are – as you will know if you’ve listened to Seaweed Braids – the perfect blend of fire and ice. Priscilla Poe Foresti supplies the heat, her vocal roar a gutteral scream that could peel the skin off a human from 1000 paces, while Greta Hammonia Antico supplies the goice of reason to counterpoint the demon whispering in your ear, her own style a hauntingly beautiful siren song to soothe the soul.
Seaweed Braids was a magnificent track, Atlas is more of the same, and I can promise you that The Spectrum Of Human Gravity is a fucking banger of a record that you would be well advised to throw yourself into when it comes out.
Hellfox are gonna be huge. Mark my words.
