Believe it or not, the life of a music journalist/reviewer isn’t as easy as it might seem. Don’t get me wrong, it beats cleaning toilets for a living – a job I am all too familiar with – and who doesn’t like free stuff, but the fact remains that you have to spend a vast amount of time trying to figure out how to say the same kind of things, in different ways.

Let’s be honest here, you either hate an album, think it’s okay, or flat out love it, and the trick is to find mew and interesting ways to explain that. Which is all well and good, yuu have to flex the muscles to keep them sharp, but sometimes you just want an album that does exactly what it says on the tin.
Step forward Pradavni by Serbian Black Metal band Oskrnavitelj.
If you like Black Metal, you’ll like this record.
It has more than enough riffs to bring images of desolate winters to your brain and more blast beats than an atomic bomb. The vocals are that of a tortured soul spitting bile at the world and the production is bare enough to invoke the spirit of the Old Ones that began it all, but polished enough to let you actually hear what’s going on without wondering if someone has dipped your speakers in the bath.
Pradavni by Oskrnavitelj doesn’t set out to to reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t need to. It’s just a good, solid Black Metal album, and sometimes that’s all you need.
You can buy Pradavni by Oskrnavitelj via Fetzner Death Records.
