Thoughts of Inevitable Annihilation comes from the Würzburg based band Sunday of Dead. This is their latest single from their upcoming EP Momento Moribundis which shows a departure from previous works by focusing more on the death metal edge to their music. This is also our formal introduction to vocalist Glauber Haereticus who replaces previous bassist/vocalist Steffi. He joins Susi (guitars/clean vocals), Phil (guitar/backing vocals), and Jürgen (drums) bringing us to the current full lineup.

As an introduction to their next evolution, this track is epic-sounding with punctuations of heaviness to draw the listener into a somber state slowly.
The track opens leaving no holds barred, it’s heavy with an emphasis on guitars. One of the spectacular features is how it immediately commands the attention of the listener before lulling into a more soothing pace. The contrast between harsh vocals and clean accentuates overall the fantastical mood.
While both doom and death influenced Sunday of the Dead balances on the razor edge of composure, never dipping too far into one or the other. It makes the music more approachable without isolating newcomers to the metal genre. The song in its entirety is competent and a good recommendation I think particularly for those looking to get into metal as a whole. There’s a lot to latch onto including soaring melodies and substantial riffs.
Thoughts of Inevitable Isolation is an enjoyable ride, something that perfectly passes with the current landscape of metal music.
This track releases on April 14th, available to listen here on YouTube, and is our first taste of Momento Moribundis the forthcoming EP.
