Howdy-ho everyone! Today I am bringing you…. not dungeon synth! Wild, I know. Anyway, I’m here to chat about Ogun’s newest single, Human Anatomy, from their album World of Hate.
The single dropped on January 25th, 2025 and the intro honestly kicks ass. The bass in the beginning immediately gets my foot bouncing, and then very quickly it is joined by the guitar and the drums and within 15 seconds of the song starting, I am ready to start thrashing.
The sound feels very traditional to me, like old school Metallica. This is the metal you feel deep in your bones. The lead in lasts for about 45 seconds and it just continues to ramp up the whole time, getting the listener sufficiently hyped. The track is like this throughout the duration of the song. The music for this song is absolutely incredible. This is everything I want in thrash metal.
Now, with all that said, we have to talk about the vocals. To be perfectly honest, I am not a fan of this vocalist. His sound is a little too raw for me. It sort of makes me feel like I am being yelled at, but not in the rock-and-roll/screamo kind of way. I don’t think the singer is bad, I just think he is not for me, and that is okay. Because I am not into the vocals, but I really liked the music, I definitely think it is worth checking out if you are a fan of melodic thrash metal.
