Aller Ärde Änd by Gewyrm

Welcome back, my fellow black metal enthusiasts. Sean here at the Black Metal Archives, and today, we’re delving into the depths of the underground with a focus on Gewyrm’s latest release, “Aller Ärde Änd.” Emerging from the decayed soils of eastern Berlin in 2022, Gewyrm has swiftly carved a niche within the raw black metal scene. Their debut EP, “Aller Ärde Änd,” dropped on September 15, 2023, via a collaboration between Breath Sun Bone Blood and IARNWITH labels.

Recorded in a single day during the summer of 2023, this lo-fi offering encapsulates the essence of early black metal, infused with elements of gutter punk. The band’s lineup features A. on drums, D. wielding the guitar, and Zweifel delivering vocals.

The EP comprises six tracks, totaling approximately 18 minutes of unrelenting aggression and sonic desolation. The opening track, “Intro,” sets a haunting atmosphere, leading into the title track, “Aller Ärde Änd,” which assaults the listener with relentless blast beats and tremolo-picked riffs. Tracks like “Dämon” and “Wurmgricht” continue this onslaught, showcasing the band’s commitment to brutal, primitive, and raw black metal.

The production is deliberately lo-fi, enhancing the raw aesthetic that defines Gewyrm’s sound. The guitars emit a filthy, distorted tone, while the drums maintain a relentless pace, and the vocals exude a sense of unyielding aggression. The lyrics, penned in Swiss German, add layers of obscurity and mystique to the overall presentation.

In the broader black metal genre, Gewyrm’s “Aller Ärde Änd” stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of raw, unpolished sonic aggression. Fans of early black metal and those seeking an unfiltered auditory assault will find this EP a worthy addition to their collection.

For those interested in exploring “Aller Ärde Änd,” the EP is available for streaming and purchase on Bandcamp page. Let us know what you think of this raw masterpiece down in the comments!

Until next time, stay true to the blackened path.
