I Am Pissed Off

I am pissed off.

I got duped and I am pissed off.

I am an idiot who got duped and I am pissed off.

Earlier today, I did a review of a demo I found on Bandcamp under the Chilis Punk label, and I liked it. It was everything that I go for in an underground band. Raw, aggressive, spans genres, the usual shit that I fall for harder than I would for Scarlett Johansson in a Liverpool shirt. So I wrote a piece praising it, published it, and it was only later – thanks to some serious Sherlock Holmes work by Ashen Pall – that it was brought to my attention that it was created by AI.

All the signs were there. The cover is obviously AI Art, the drumming is obviously programmed, and yet for some fucking reason, I didn’t pick up on it.

And I am pissed off.

I mean, I’m not pissed off by the people who created it, if that’s their bag then that’s their bag, but I am pissed off at me.

I should’ve done my due diligence here. I should’ve looked deeper into the band I was reviewing and the record label they were signed to and figured it out myself, but I have gotten lazy.

The BMA is growing a lot quicker than I expected it to and we have a lot of plans lined up that we are starting to implement. Plus, I’m still working on my book for my publisher and I’m launching a sister site this week to cover my other passion, crappy movies. Because of all this, I have started to take my eyes off the ball when it comes to reviews.

I was only questioning this morning if I’m not putting enough effort into my writing lately, kind of phoning it in as best I can, and this whole stupid fuck up has shown me I am.

I don’t want to do that.

That isn’t what the BMA is about.

It’s not what I’m about.

So, I fucked up, and I am pissed off.

But I’ve learnt a valuable lesson. Never take your eye off the fucking ball, ever again.
