A 2004 concert in Kraków, Poland, drew international outrage due to the use of sheep heads, naked models crucified on stage, and extensive use of blood. In 2007, a major conflict erupted within the band. Infernus was ousted by Gaahl and King ov Hell, who claimed ownership of the Gorgoroth name. Infernus fought back, arguing that he was the band’s founder and rightful owner of the name. The legal battle culminated in 2009 when a Norwegian court ruled in Infernus’ favor, granting him the rights to the Gorgoroth name. This split left Gaahl and King ov Hell to form their own project, God Seed.

Following the legal victory, Infernus reassembled Gorgoroth with a new lineup and released Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt (2009), which was well-received for its return to the band’s early raw sound.
