In news that is bound to pmease Mayhem fans the world over – well, as happy as we can get as we’re all supposed to be miserable feckers – it seems that the band have a new album in the works and we should see it sometime in 2025/2026.
Talking to the “Everblack” podcast, Necrobutcher said;
Teloch and Charles [Edward Alexander Hedger, MAYHEM guitarist] have presented some demos, so they have presented almost 20 songs. And I listened to everything, and some of it is really fucking good…in March, I think, we’re gonna get together and start to hammer out this thing. By 2025 we should have been able to enter the studio. And then, hopefully, it would be cool to have it out in 2025. That would be a goal, but we’ll see. But definitely 2026. And then, of course, we’ll be heading out on a new world tour to promote it, I guess.”
The last Mayhem studio release was their sixth, “Daemon”, which came out in October 2019, and after six long years – and one live album – it seems that we’ll finally get the brand new material we’ve been craving.
Or, y’know, they’ll all get sidetracked doing other projects and we’ll be still be waiting for a new Mayhem album in 2035.
